हिन्दी में पढ़ेंBelt conveyor field guidance
Practical troubleshooting and maintenance guides for belt conveyors, written as symptom → evidence → causes → verification → action. Each guide is also available in Hindi.
Safety first: observe a running conveyor only from designated guarded positions. Isolate, lock out and verify zero energy, and secure take-up movement, before any hands-on check or correction.
Troubleshooting
- Belt mistrackingFind the pattern before adjusting the conveyor. A belt that wanders under load needs a different investigation from a splice that drifts once per revolution.
- Longitudinal belt ripA trapped object can turn a small puncture into a full-length tear. Stop the conveyor immediately when a rip is suspected.
- Excessive belt sag / troughingA belt dropping between idler sets can spill material, increase flexing and accelerate wear. Check support, load and tension together.
- Splice failureOpening edges, exposed reinforcement or a lifted splice require a controlled stop and specialist assessment.
- Premature idler failureA seized idler can abrade the belt, raise local temperature and increase resistance.
- Pulley lagging & belt slipLoss of traction wastes power and can overheat the belt at the drive pulley.
- Chute spillage & chokingInvestigate material flow and transfer geometry before tightening skirts against the belt.
- Top-cover wearMap the wear pattern and remaining cover before deciding on repair, replacement or a different compound.
- Drive / gearbox overheatingUse load, temperature and lubrication evidence together. A hot housing is a symptom, not a diagnosis.
Maintenance
- Daily conveyor inspectionA short, consistent route catches changes before they become outages. Follow site-specific inspection intervals.
- Preventive maintenance planCreate a repeatable plan that links inspection findings to work orders and verified repairs.
Belt selection
- Belt selection workflowStart with the duty, then select the carcass, cover and splice as one compatible system.
Cover selection
- Cover selectionCover compound and cover thickness solve different problems. Review abrasion, impact, temperature, oils and fire requirements together.
Components
- Conveyor componentsUnderstand the load path from the loading chute to the drive, belt, idlers and take-up.
